We'll be running indoor sessions every Wednesday @ 9:00 PM beginning in January at the Bloomsbury Center at 106 Bloomsbury Ave in Catonsville, Md. 21228 and run until the start of the Spring season. If you're interested, please feel free to come out!!! This is an excellent way to get into shape for the Spring season.
****NOTE: If the Snow Emergency plan for Baltimore County goes into effect before or is scheduled to go into effect after our 9:00PM start time, that indoor session is cancelled.
We usually begin practice for outdoor season the 1st Sunday in February. Since we now practice on a new"sports turf" field at Catonsville High School, weather should not be much of an issue. All players need to renew your US Lacrosse memberships online (www.uslacrosse.org) and bring or e-mail Coach Joe Daley the e-mail receipt that US Lacrosse sends you. If you are a current member as an adult player you must renew if your membership expires before June 18,2008.
Unfortunately, we returned from Myrtle Beach without the championship trophy in hand. We met our match in a highly motivated and experienced Cape Fear team that along with Great Atlantic were determined to see the trophy not go North this year!!!
In the final game of pool play on Saturday, we fell for the 1st time in 3 Tournaments, 9-4, to Cape Fear LC. This group located in Wilmington NC was loaded with several Wingate University standouts and we just did not have the horses to stay with them. Our Mix of BLC veterans & U of Tennessee youth, just was not experienced enough to get it done.
Although we lost the final game of pool play, we did earn the 4th spot in the championship round that was held on Sunday.
In the Championship round we drew 1st seed Great Atlantic and in a hotly contested game fell to them, 5-3, to finish out our games in the Shoot-Out this year.
Cape Fear played Great Atlantic for the Championship beating them 7-5 to take home the trophy and making a huge statement about the caliber of the lacrosse one will find in Wilmington, NC these days!!!
All in all, we are now 12-2 over 3 years at the Shoot-Out and, as I told all those that were with us on Sunday, "if you play enough games, you are going to lose a few once in a while." We have accomplished the task set out a few years ago of raising the bar for the caliber of teams in this tournament and helping it grow into a solid tournament. Hopefully it will continue to get better over the next few years. This is nice location and a great time of year for a tournament. Golf on Friday was great and the beer was abundant and cold. I hope more of you will join us next year?
The indoor season is over and this team did fairly well considering the lack of indoor experience. The Team captured 6th place out of 8 teams in the League with a 4-7 record. We beat DeWalt during this season, showing that we are making strides and getting better in the League. Attendance is always the key to being consistent and when everyone showed up, we gave many of the upper echelon teams a run for their money. We dropped a few games against teams we should have beat, yet key guys were missing and we just did not have the depth to pull off the win. We have a good nucleus on which to build and hopefully a few more regular players from the Team will join us next season? It begins in September. If you are interested in playing, contact Coach Joe Daley.
